Europiren is the exclusive distributor of RMCC, a group of companies fully focussed on the mining and processing of brucite operating under the corporate brand Brucite+.

Brucite is a natural magnesium hydroxide which is found in several deposits around world. RMCC explores 2 of the worlds largest and purest brucite deposits in Russia. The output amounts to 450.000 tonnes per year and is exported worldwide to more than 40 countries.

The protection of the environment is one of RMCC’s  highest priorities in mining and continuous measurements are taken to maintain the natural environment as close as possible to its pre-mining state. Through 3D modelling of the deposit the exact composition of the deposit is known and the mining operations can be kept to a minimum. All mining and processing operations are purely mechanical and no hazardous chemicals are used. This results in a very low carbon footprint.

Brucite is used in many different applications including metallurgy, agriculture, flame retardants and waste water treatment and flue gas desulphurisation.

In waste water treatment and flue gas desulphurisation (scrubbers) brucite is sold under the brand name MagTreat® and serves as a mild alkali. Thanks to it’s unique buffering properties MagTreat increases the pH at a moderate and well controlled rate. Unlike many other alkali’s brucite is non-hazardous and therefore safe to use.

MagTreat is also a very effective alkali, the consumption is 30% less than e.g. caustic soda. MagTreat does not contain crystalline quartz is therefore not abrasive. It is does not create any foam, even in the case when it is diluted with sea water of high salinity.

MagTreat is available both as a fine milled powder and as a stable suspension with up to 65% solids. The suspension is made is various slurry make down plants strategically located near important ports which allows maximum flexibility to deal with last minute changes in loading times for vessels around the globe.
